My most important piece of advice to all you would-be writers: when you write, try to leave out all the parts readers skip.

A horror story very much inspired by the tradition of H.P Lovecraft.

Confessional,freeverse,stream-of-consciousness poem(containing quite a few recognisable quotes),in reality more about the circumstances of its composition than anything else. Written in a tiny room in the New Norfolk Hotel in the townlet of that name about thirty miles from Hobart,Tasmania. I spent four months in this hotel going cold turkey after eighteen months of over-indulgence while living at a cheap hotel in central Hobart - over-indulgence in bad company, alcohol, cigars, pipe tobacco, cigarettes, marijuana and opium (smoked as raw paste on one occasion). This was the first serious poem I'd written since August,1998,a six-year gap during which I travelled widely, both geographically and experientially. As a positive footnote, since 2004 I have been only a light, occasional smoker of Cuban cigars or pipe tobaccco and a light-to-moderate,occasional drinker of Guinness, red wine or(if I'm really lucky!)Jameson's 'Crested Ten' whiskey. - Tiny | General | 05.07.11
This flowed out of me last night after three glasses of wine. Let me know what you think. Tiny
