Oh handsome wild stallion

Break free from your reins

make haste and take to the hills

Don't look back no need.

You are a lone spirit

Running to or maybe from

The one who truly loves you

Think on, Yearning one.

Wild stallions belong to no one

They are meant to roam alone

Meeting mate on the odd occasion

Having fun and moving on

looking for pastures new

But I know someday you will return

And when you do I will be here

loving you as much as ever

Mighty stallion running free

Oh Lord Colette, you have my pulse racing. Why was I not that wild stallion and be treated as such?

Colette,

I found this so beautiful. A wild stallion, magnificent creatures. I love the photos you give us and the words that just bring me to another place. I think within all of us there is a sense of needing to be alone, to be free, to have that ability to roam with our writing and to love too, to be part of life yet still hold our authenticity, our identity as an individual. We struggle to do this as we all have to "fit" into work ethics, social behaviours, all sorts of adaptations that cause us to mask who we really are. I have finally found my true self and am trying to be completely true to me, hard to do in conventional life but the only way to go. Loved this, it has spurred me on to continue to pursue being just me. Hugs Maire X

I think the wild stallion beats in the hearts of us all…as Maire so well expressed, but we are confined in straitjackets by convention, social norms, needing to fit in…and so we lose a part of our soul, though the yearning for freedom beats on in our hearts…

Okay Collette, where’s me damn boots..?  I see a wild Mustang waiting for me and you.  He is the white one and his name is Phantom…yee-Ha!

Who can resist the wild horse, such a magnificent beast, that wild stallion..so powerful, full of life's energy and spirit....A great central image to your poem, Colette...And separate anbd together those words 'wild ' and 'stallion'resonate so strongly don't they?  We never tire of watching these animals in all their strength, their grace and beauty and I love the idea of such unrestrained freedom.  Beautifully presented...
