Highland Games

DescriptionWe were at the Highland Games for the first time, July 2010, at Tobermory. It was a wonderful day, which made a great impression on us, and we are going again this July. Remembering this spectacle always gives me a lump in my throat.

Whats the story in Tobermory wouldn't we like to know ....... :-D

Sounds like a lovely experiance Jeanna ?

I liked the imagery of the pipers marching and the highland music being played !!

A nice read, thanks for sharing,

Regards,

Steve.

Thanks Steve

It was truly unforgettable, situated high up on the golf course with views over islands and the sea.

It was a perfect day blue sky and sea, flags from all over the world, huge men throwing hammers and cabers, dancers, and races (started with a real gun).

It all seemed not like the real world - going back for more!

Hi Jeanna

Nice piece - like a couple of haiku - so much said in so few words.

I know Tobermory on the magical Isle of Mull - a beautiful place - they do a lovely single malt as well - one of the older distilleries. Will always remember the Main Street - lovely line of multicoloured shops and hotel - and the old Victorian Hotel, as you say - 'up the steep hill'. What an island - they say it's all of Scotland in miniature !

We've visited Scotland almost every year since 1990 - unfortunately this year we're passing - it was very cold last year in May.

So really I do empathise with your anticipation - hope you've a great time !

Enjoyed - it brings back such.

Cheers

John

Thanks John - Tobermory is one of those magical places that everyone loves and Iona is something else - pure light - perfect for artists, writers and dreamers.

Regards Jeanna

Thanks John - sorry meant to send the comment above to you, but forgot I was on hubby's computer! I will put another Tobermory poem on soon - bit busy at the moment.

Jeanna
