All writers are vain, selfish and lazy, and at the very bottom of their motives lies a mystery. Writing a book is a long, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.
Highland Games
DescriptionWe were at the Highland Games for the first time, July 2010, at Tobermory. It was a wonderful day, which made a great impression on us, and we are going again this July. Remembering this spectacle always gives me a lump in my throat.

Proud men
Piping, watching, marching
To the games
The head
Leading the way
Up steep hills
The pipes play on.

Hi Jeanna
Nice piece - like a couple of haiku - so much said in so few words.
I know Tobermory on the magical Isle of Mull - a beautiful place - they do a lovely single malt as well - one of the older distilleries. Will always remember the Main Street - lovely line of multicoloured shops and hotel - and the old Victorian Hotel, as you say - 'up the steep hill'. What an island - they say it's all of Scotland in miniature !
We've visited Scotland almost every year since 1990 - unfortunately this year we're passing - it was very cold last year in May.
So really I do empathise with your anticipation - hope you've a great time !
Enjoyed - it brings back such.
Cheers
John
