Teach Me

Wouldn't all be that much better if happiness could be taught? Being able to learn it as a subject between Maths and Biology. Subtracting all of that intangible and yet penetrable pain that reflects in salty tears which redden your eyes and mark the countless sleepless nights. Adding one of the smiles you greeted my wakings with on those mornings now so long gone. Multiplying the goose bumps my skin responded to your tender strokes with, and that obliged our abiding distracted minds to be reminded of the parts the clock divided the days in. Experimenting together what we wouldn't dare alone. Knowing that being part of a pair resulted in a new and improved version of ourselves. Having passed though primary and then secondary school as the model straight-A student; obtaining a First Class Honours in college; working now at the edge of technology; isn't all this enough prove of my valid ability to learn, retain and practice what I'm taught? Having unconditionally hurt the ones I most love; obtaining self-torturing memories to which I linger; working day after day on a fake smile that doesn't give away the strong need to shade a tear; aren't my days enough proof of failure when learning by myself? Teach me to be happy. Teach me happiness.

A lovely piece and a great write.A few gramatical errors but not many. It does not overshadow your great potential as a writer. For someone writing in a language not their own you manage to express so much. You cannot give someone this ability, you either have it or you don't and you certainly have this ability. So keep writing you have plenty to offer and you will only get better. Take care. James.
