Writing Your First Novel - Free Workshop

-As part of Fingal Writers' Festival-

Starting your first novel is a challenge, especially when it comes to transferring that initial idea into your opening chapter. This workshop, facilitated by June Considine will cover character development, the power of plot and dialogue, setting your scenes, how to discover your narrative voice, and offer advice on submitting your finished manuscript for publication.

Whether you are already engaged in writing your novel or considering how to begin, Write Your First Novel offers an opportunity to tap into your imagination in a relaxed and practical workshop environment.

June Considine is the author of sixteen novels for adults and children. Her novels for adults include When The Bough Breaks and Deceptions. Under her pen name, Laura Elliot, she wrote The Prodigal Sister and Stolen Child. June’s books for children include the fantasy Luvender trilogy and the popular Beachwood series of books for pre-teens. Her young adult novels include View from a Blind Bridge (shortlisted for a Bisto Award) and The Glass Triangle. Her short stories have been broadcast on RTÉ’s Fiction 15 series and have appeared in a number of teenage anthologies, including The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror Annual Collection. She gives regular workshops on creative writing and is a member of the board of the Irish Writers’ Centre. She has also worked as a freelance journalist and magazine editor.
